Aloha Award




This award encompasses all aspects of FIRST, Team 25, and Brunswick Eruption with an "Aloha" spirit. Teams are given a set of objectives and earn points for each task they complete. The challenges are designed to allow teams to grow as a group and show their own Aloha spirit by spreading the word of FIRST culture in their communities and at Brunswick Eruption. Examples of challenges include: decorating your team's pit, participating in online social media, attending conferences, recruiting new FIRST teams, and introducing new members of your community to FIRST by having them attend BE. A special prize will be presented to the winning team by


  1. Decorate your pit to look like a luau (25 pts)
  2. Dress your robot up for its Hawaiian Vacation (20 pts)
  3. Dress team members in Hula skirts (5 pts per member)
  4. Have team members prepare a hula dance and perform it for our judges (15 pts)
  5. Create buttons to pass out with the words "Go FIRST" on them. (20 pts)
  6. Bring your school's principal or superintendent (75 pts each)
  7. Bring the principal of a school who doesn't have a FIRST team. Principals of pre-rookies qualify. (100 pts)
  8. Invite a Senator or Representative (10 pts per printed e-mail or letter)
  9. Have said Senator attend (200 pts)
  10. Have a Representative attend (200 pts)
  11. Invite the Governor of your state or President of the United States (50 pts each)
  12. Have the Governor attend (300 pts)
  13. Have the President of the United States attend (100,000,000 pts)
  14. Participate in the Evil Sundae contest (50 pts)
  15. Tweet why you love BE . Mention your team number & @BrunsEruption10 in the tweet. (10 pts per team + 5 additional points if you tweet us from your team's official twitter)
  16. Write a shout out in less than 25 words about why your mentors are important to you and give it to the announcer. (25 pts)
  17. Alert the media! Get someone from the local media to show up and cover your team and BE (200 pts per outlet)
  18. Have your team submit an entry for the Mike Wade Memorial Award (150 pts.)
  19. Be in the top 5 for food donations (75 pts)
  20. Have a team member or mentor attend a workshop at BE (50 pts)
  21. Happy Birthday BE! Every year is another birthday! If it's your birthday your team gets (10 pts)
  22. Bring a pre-rookie (250 pts)
  23. Come with a VEX team (50 pts per team)
  24. Have team alumni volunteer at BE. (50 pts)
  25. Come in with something extra awesome and we will assign points as we see fit.

Rules
  1. All activities will be performed in a safe manner.
  2. Twitter feeds should be directed at the official event twitter (@BrunsEruption10) and include the official event hashtag (#omgBE).
  3. Proof of all activities must be provided.
  4. If you are to bring prominent members such as the school principal, superintendent, Governor, or the President of the United States, please have students ready to escort them around and tell them about FIRST. Please also inform us by sending an email to brunswickeruption@gmail.com so we can prepare in advance.
  5. You are responsible for making sure that a judge is around when you are participating in an activity that generates points.
  6. In case of a tie, the team who completes the most challenges wins.
